Innovation in Teaching Education Grants

A community outreach program of California’s table grape growers.

The California Table Grape Commission invites teachers to apply for an Innovation in Teaching education grant, funded by the state’s table grape growers.

In the 2011-12 school year, 34 education grants of up to $750 each will be awarded to teachers in the table grape growing regions of California.  This is an increase in the number of awards and the amount of funding available to teachers in the San Joaquin and Coachella valleys.

The grants are available to elementary, junior high and high school teachers, and support innovative education projects in the areas of math, science, agriculture, California history, art and health.  Examples of previously funded projects include a school garden, a portable star lab, GPS devices for mapping the campus, cooking and music lessons for students with special needs, and a river exploration field trip.

The deadline for submissions is February 17, 2012. The commission will review proposals and notify all applicants and districts of the awards in February 2012.  Checks will be sent to the district offices for distribution to the schools and teachers.
